The Canada Geese are no longer absent from Lake Chabot. At least 15 were hanging out around the island where the Herons had been nesting after being displaced by the Eagles. We didn’t see a single Heron or Egret of any kind, however. That’s not good news.
We did see at least 5 turtles of at least 2 different kinds, 3 pairs of hooded mergansers, several butterbutts, a downy woodpecker, a few white pellies, juncoes, gadwalls, mallards, mallard crosses, ruddys, a killdeer, a spotted towhee, a black phoebe, an eared grebe and a cormorant.
