Once upon a time the people of a South American nation elected a Marxist president against the wishes of the US ruling elites. This was that man, Salvador Allende,

and this was Chile

Naturally, the US immediately began to try to destabilize Chile and destroy its economy, but to no immediate avail.

Then these two war criminals conspired to bring Allende down.  

Over 40,000 Chileans were captured and tortured 3,065 Chileans are known to have been killed or disappeared,  Roughly 200,000 Chileans were driven into exile Initially the sweep was so vast and sudden that the Estadio Nacional de Chile was used as a detention and torture center.
