The Daily Bucket is a regular feature of the Backyard Science group. It is a place to note any observations you have made of the world around you. Insects, weather, meteorites, climate, birds and/or flowers. All are worthy additions to the bucket. Please let us know what is going on around you in a comment. Include, as close as is comfortable for you, where you are located. Each note is a record that we can refer to in the future as we try to understand the patterns that are quietly unwinding around us. |

This month was a bit more thorough and tended to emphasize relative positions, which I did by aiming for strips, either north-south (or vice-versa) or east-west (or vice-versa), because of a different project I am doing. The pics are from the beginning of the month, and though I have grape clusters with "grapes" of pinhead size, I didn't photograph them. The primary vine is possibly largely dead and requiring creative retrellising, wspecially on the east end, so I pretty much skipped it.
So here we go:
This is all early June.
Out the back door to the right looking south
a bit further south
more
and more, with pineapple sage on the left of the walk
the potted geranium in the patio across from the back door & false hedge
the false hedge between patio and yard, false cypress, gardenia at the end. This also shows the fountain, apricot and boxed guava
The bed of santa barbara daisies just south of the false hedge
the same west to east strip as the last, showing the fountain and apricot
the same strip again, highlightint the apricot and some of the fruit - almost full size but very green

from the edge of the orange tree, isolating the California Fuschia, behind which are the santa barbara daisies, the gardenia and one false cypress, the apricot with coffeeberry behind it, and the guava
looking up at the orange, the riper ones are now edible and juiceable
2 potted celery under the orange
the ribes, blackberry, compost bin and part of the redbud
around the corner from the ribes, wild mint, potted milkweed, irises, 4 or 5 amaryllis, and east end of pergola with hanging planters, garlic top, green onions bottom
closer to the pergola showing the planters and some of the grape foliage
further along irises under and grapes climbing
past the pergola, the east face of the escalonia
looking east from in front of the ribes, bunch grass, white sage and pineapple sage on the right, strawberries and fuschia on the left edge of the path, and the orange
the blackberry, blooming but no fruit, and compost bin
